In this video, you will see an example of a mini-load AS/RS. These systems can be very large filling a room the size of two football fields, and extending up to 50 feet in the air. The very narrow access aisles make it possible to create extraordiarily dense storage. In this particular video, materials are stored on in totes, and multiple totes are stored on a single tray. The mini-load retreives one tray at a time and delivers the tray to a station where lights direct both the locaiton and number of items to pick. Items are normally picked ot another set of totes or boxes (in this video, it is the yellow totes that are lower than the delivered tote). Lights can direct puts to multiple orders concurrently.
